Casa Ferns

Casa Ferns sits on a north-facing slope above Sintra, wrapped in cork oak. The brief was a year-round family house that felt like a retreat. We worked in lime plaster, travertine and local pine, keeping the palette to three materials so the architecture could stay in the background. A single arched opening runs through the plan, drawing light from the courtyard to the deepest rooms.
